OK this one was not in the Newspaper :)

Despite a crash on the bike as he tried to pass a bunch of 'drafters' at the World Half Ironman Champs. that sent him to hospital for stitches, Kento still pulled off a 19th place. Hey 'when the going gets tough:)

Super Kento

Miguel makes his first Halloween appearance:) Check those climbers legs just like his Dads.

Dave - Hill Climb 2009

Mark.G - Hill Climb

HUBBARDMAN DOES IT AGAIN!! For the second week in a row Elliot reigned supreme in the Hill Climb Series winning the Harrington Hundreds Hill 2

seconds ahead of team-mate Shakee. Dave moved up to 5th, Karen.B won the womens event, and Mark.G 2nd in the male 12+.

Justin wins Harrington Hundreds Hill in great form!

Okay, because 'Buttercup' has been his usual poor communicator I thought I would use this pic I took in Athens (haircut by me) BUT regardless he has had some great results since returning to Triathlon especially finishing 7th overall in a TOP Pro field in the Geelong 70.3 event a few weeks ago. His 3.58.33 was only two minutes off the 3rd place time. His first Ironman (NZ) is in March, stay tuned.

Oh de Pain!!! Dave on his way to another strong performance (2nd Cat B - Admiralty House) He was also 2nd in the MTB series at Ferry Reach. Mark.H stormed to 2nd in Cat A and Mark.G took honors in the 13-16.

Karen- National Triathlon Champion 2008

Karen Smith After saying all week she was not going to do the National Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships, Karen did make the start line and won the title, beating out most of the men (coming third overall) in her build up to the World 1/2 Ironman Championships later this year.

Karen.B- National Road Race Champion 2008

  • Congratulations - Karen Bordage, Justin Ferreira and Mark Godfrey won their respective titles in the National Road Race Championships on Sunday (22/6/08)
  • Justin wins top Award - Six of the Island's elite junior athletes received Denton Hurdle Memorial Awards for excellence in their respective sports and academics last week at a presentation ceremony held at the Berkeley Institute. The awards are held annually in honour of late local rugby star and schoolteacher Denton Hurdle. Justin received his award for his performances in triathlon.
  • World Triathlon Championships-Vancouver - 'Fluffy' Duffy came 17th in the Under 23's at the Worlds at the weekend. After a great swim coming out with the leaders, numb hands in the cold conditions lost her time in the transition which she was unable to make up on the bike, add to that a crash and not the best ingredients for a great race. Not what she would want but a true sign she is back on track for the Olympics and she sounds positive. Super Kento was 44th in the 45-49 category. Well done guys.
  • National Time trial Champions:- Winners Edge riders, Wayne Scott, Karen Bordage, Mark Godfrey and Justin Ferreira all won their respective categories in the 2008 National Time Trial  Championships 8/6/08.

Winner's Edge News

WINNERS EDGE Team members have been very busy over the last couple of months. Unfortunately due to a web-site problem I have been unable keep this site current, so this is a breakdown of some of what's been going on:

GOOD LUCK JULES........Jules has been on Team Winners Edge longer than anyone else, and will always be part of not only the Team but our Shops history. She is a very close and valued friend. This month Jules and her family leave the 'Rock' to move the England and we wish them all the very best, as Erica joins Claire to continue their education there. It will seem strange not seeing Jules training around the island, or rushing into the shop at the last minute, stressed out that she "Has soooooo much to do" :) She assures us that she will be back, but until then Jules, "Good Luck"

'Shakee' International 'star'-

In a recent visit to Warren County-USA our own Shakee was on a vacation at his family home and training hard when on returning from a tough ride was met by the sports reporter for the Warren County Record who did a feature on him and his riding. A true Team member Shakes made sure he was not only wearing his Winners Edge gear, but also metioned Winners Edge. Thanks Shakee, we appreciate your dedication and your recognizing your Team.

Gabby shines in Kelowna, Canada-

Gabby was in good form again at the weekend when she finished a crediatble 5th overall in the Pushor Mitchel Apple Triathlon in Kelowna as part of the Canadian National Championships weekend.

Karen.B   The Winners Edge 'Pitbull' :)- Has had an awesome summer with the highlight being her great performance in Maryland at the 'Eagleman' 70.3 triathlon where she won her age group, was 18th overall female including the pros field, and was 125th overall out of a 3000. He time of 4.58.09 and win qualified her for Hawaii this year to round out a trio of Team Winners Edge riders who will be at battling the lava fields, with Kento and Karen.S. Karen also showed her speed over the shorter distance winning the Aon National Championship Sprint Triathlon, the Hill Climb Challenge and the Female Master National Time Trial Championships. As Kento would say...WOW!!

Karen.S   Has qualified for Hawaii a second time this year just to make sure :)with a tremendous result in Lake Placid:

Age group winner and third overall in amateur field, 11th overall woman including pros and 125th out of over 2600 athletes. Swim 1.01, bike 5.41 and run 3.31. Awesome result!

JULES had a personal best day too in Lake Placid beating her previous best Ironman time by a staggering 25 minutes to finish in 11 hrs 13 minutes. It was a tough day more than physically though as she found herself in an extremely strong age group, and did not get a spot for Hawaii which was her goal. Regardless she was rightfully thrilled with her result and vowes to be in Hawaii next year.

Fluffy has continued to have a great season on the bike and is now showing she is back to top form in Triathlon too:

Flora has had some impressive results on the bike but her recent results in Triathlon are a clear indication that she is back doing what she loves most which is triathlon. In last months CAC Games she won a silver medal in the triathlon and last weekend recorded her most impressive result since her return, placing on the podium in third place in a top womens field in Kelowna, Canada, in the Canadian Championships/Pan American Cup event behind top Canadians Paula Findlay and Kirsten Sweetland. Next up for Fluffy The World Championships Under 23.

Mark.G and Treshun were selected to be part of the recently held Caribbean Cycling Championships and both represented Bermuda and Team Winners Edge creditably. Mark came away with the silver medal in the RR and the Bermuda Team placed third overall in the country standings.

DOMINIQUE REWARDED- Team Madison rider Dom Mayho was rewarded in June for all his hard work, dedication and great attitude with a brand new Cannondale Six 13 provided by Winners Edge. The top junior rider has had his share of bad luck this year and when he crashed and broke his bike frame on May 24th Heritage Day Road Race, Winners Edge had no hesitation in coming to his aid. His fellow Madison Team mates also stepped up to the plate and gave him a new set of Mavic carbon race wheels, which he has since put to good use. He is a great prospect for the future.

FLUFFY continues to burn up the roads in the US with more wins last weekend and this week competes in the Collegiate National Championships....Go Flora!

FANTASTIC results last weekend in St.Croix for Team Winners Edge athletes with Karen.S finishing 1st in her age group, Kento and Jules 3rd in theirs (despite Kento racing with a strained hamstring) These guys continue to put Bermuda on the triathlon map around the world and once again will fly our and Bermudas colors in Hawaii this year. AWESOME job guys.

Some great shots from Sundays Victoria Park Crit (25/4/10) taken by Earl Basden of Island Stats go to his website to see all the fantastic work he does for sports in Bermuda at www.islandstats.com and for full results for Sunday where Team Winners Edge was in the thick of all the action with Shakee taking 3rd in the mens Open and Nicole 1st in the womens Open.

Team Winners Edge riders showed that they have brains as well as brawn last night 16/4/10 when they won the Cycling Trivia Quiz held at the Robin Hood Pub. With organizer John Whale going back into the 60's for a number of the questions our two 'Older Statesmen' of cyling, Steve and Kevin were clearly in a league of their own as they (together with guest team member for the night Tim Miller (no photo available)- who apparently offered once answer all night:) took the honors.

A couple of our newer team members in action last weekend in the Bacardi TT. Arthur (on the left :) and Nix.

Just got hold of this nice photo of Jules in Hawaii last year flying the Winners Edge Flag: Way to go Jules!

Flora  makes Velo News (March 2010) with 'another' win for her Collegiate Team. Way to go Fluffy.

Just a few pics of the first TT of the year at Harrington Sound.

TEAM WINNERS EDGE  welcome two new sponsors for the 2010 season, with ARNOLDS MARKETS and IGILITY GROUP OF COMPANIES joining out other sponsors, MARINE LOCKER, ESC LTD, SIGNWORX, BUTTERFIELD AND VALLIS, GULF STREAM CONSTRUCTION AND THE ATHLETIC CLUB. We are extremely grateful for their support and look forward to a long lasting relationship with them.

Nine weeks of weight training finished for some of our Team who took full advantage of the sessions set by Kym. It was hard work but a lot of fun too despite the fact that my training partner Gabbie 'Yawn' Arnold outlifted me on most exercises. Working on our core strength will hopefully set us up for a strong racing season. Thanks for everything Kym.

The Bermuda road race season got underway last Sunday 14/3/10 with some great results for Team Winners Edge. In the 'A' category Wayne fought for position in the final sprint to take his first victory of the year after a strong team effort. In the ride of the day for our Team, Flippa Glasford got his first ever top three finish coming third in the 'B' category after being involved in most of the moves of the day (see pic below) with Mark.G right there at the sprint coming 4th after a strong ride.Karen.B won the Open Womens and Nicole 2nd with both of our girls opting to race against the top males this season. Justin again impressed winning his category Junior A and was more than once seen on the front of the B field doing his share of the work with Gabby racing in the same category against the boys finishing 4th. Izzy was second in the Womens B race. A good day for all.

Super Kento got off to a great start to his triathlon season in the Miami International Triathlon on Sunday 14/3/10 finishing 2nd in the 50-54 category and good enough for 91st overall in a field of 1060. Great job Kent.

TEAM WINNERS EDGE welcomes two additions to their ranks this season. Firstly Nicole Mitchell, a relative newcomer to cycling, but someone that has truly embraced the sport with an enthusiastic attitude and very strong work ethic on the bike. Nicole strives to go as far as she can in the sport and is grateful for the support and encouragement given to her by her previous team, Team Tokio. Nicole hopes to benefit from the experience of our other women riders Karen.S, Julia, and Karen.B on Team Winners Edge to help her realise her goals.

Kevin Topple cannot be referred to as a newcomer in any way shape or form. He has been around cycling for more years than he wants to remember and has always been a factor in local racing. After a self imposed 'break' for a couple of years he is back with a renewed enthusiasm. Always an exciting rider, prepared to 'go for it', he is a long time friend of ours who we are proud to welcome to the Team.

ROAD RACING  - resumes on Sunday March 14th with the first of a six race criterium series for the season sponsored by IBC. With a full schedule planned it looks to be an exciting season with records entries expected. See the Bermuda Bicycle Association web-site for full details www.bermudabicycle.org

Gabby grabs Gold :) The National Mountain Bike Championships 'Sponsored by Winners Edge' were held on Sunday 28/2/10 in some of the worst weather conditions we have seen. Despite this we were well represented in the event with Gabby Arnold taking honors in the Junior Girls Open event where she not only picked up the trophy but also a bunch more scratches and bruises. Treshun placed a creditable 2nd in the Boys Open Junior category with Mark.G in 4th. Mark.H braved the conditions despite still recovering from illness the week before and managed to place third behind Garth.T and Chelsea. Well done to all the riders who participated. Photos: Left is Gabby in action. right: Paul presented the Awards to Garth, Dominique and Gabby. Missing was the womens Open Champions Sarah Bonnett.

When Kento is not in the local media for his sporting achievements we can always rely on him to get 'coverage' or in this case 'Hardly any coverage' This was not a complaint that he needs new Winners Edge gear, but an ad for a local cellular company. As the saying goes, "any publicity is good publicity" :) Way top go Kento!

TEAM EFFORT- Treshun got the surprise of his life at Friday night 'happy hour' at Winners Edge. The first being when his Mom walked through the door, (he thought he was in trouble:) The second was when she presented him with his Christmas present early (they will be away) a new Trek Madone. The thrid was when Team mates, Flippa and Shakee, made their generous contribution, a set of Carbon Cosmic racing wheels. Way to go guys.

Ok so technically Tyler is not representing Winners Edge these days as he has some great sponsorship from Tokio (Thanks Peter Mills) but he will always remain a part of our family. Regardless we and the rest of Bermuda are so proud of him for his performance in Mexico last week when he placed 4th in the mens Elite Pro field an incredible 8 hrs 39 mins in only his second Ironman event, and in doing so has qualified for Hawaii. Great job Ty.

As Kent often puts it 'WOW' and that was my reaction watching Izzy star in the Warwick Academy production of 'Blood Brothers' Taking the lead role she captivated the audience with an awesome performance. There is no doubt that she has a great future and we are all very proud of her on and off the bike just as we are of Gabby who was also in the production. Great job girls.

'SUPER-STAR' of the future!

CONGRATULATIONS????? Rumours that Fluffy is getting engaged are yet to be substanciated but it is good to see she has finally met the man of her dreams :)

FLUFFY  wins silver in Barbados. Congratulations to Winners Edge rider Flora Duffy who won a silver medal at the Caribean Cycling Championships on 25/10/09 in the road race in Barbados and ony missed out on bronze in the TT by 10 seconds the day before. Team Bermuda took 2nd place Team out of all the countries after Dee Thompson took Gold in the womens TT and Garth Thompson bronze in the mens TT. Geri Mewett, Chris Faria and Arthur Pitcher completed the Team. Well done to all the Team.

CONGRATULATIONS - Team Winners Edge welcomes Miguel Hatherly born 27/10/09 7lbs 1oz :) Proud Dad Mark is already looking at bikes:)

BIG NEWS - First we had a Shakee (Glasford) now we have a 'Flippa' (Glasford) as a new Team Winners Edge rider for 2010.....

Kento impresses in Miami- Super Kento finished 2nd in his age group and 13th overall at the Miami 'Nice' Olympic distance triathlon (17/10), but it was far from nice held in tough windy conditions. He when the going gets tough Kent gets going:)

Dave still sporting Team colors in Canada :) check out his blog and keep track of him. http://self-inflicted-suffering.blogspot.com

Pics from the final race of the 2009 Road season.

AWESOME !!!!!!!!!

Winners Edge girls Karen.S, Karen.B and Jules all proudly showing their Hawaii Ironman medals. Great performances by all of them, Bermuda should be proud. We are.

<<<<<<<<<FLUFFY is now officially old at 22:) Happy Birthday.

WINNERS EDGE was well represented at the recent bank of Bermuda triathlon by it's riders/triathletes. Karen.S won the womens overall, Greg won the 50-59, Mark.H set the fastest bike time of the day for the Team event coming off the bike first overall with his Team finally finishing 2nd. Below are a few of the photos that are available on www.islandstats.com.

BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS! 2/9/09 - It would appear that the authorities are investigating last nights 'apparent' defeat at the hands of a 'Madison??????' Team at Golf at the Ocean View course. Whilst the score cards are not in question an inside source stated off the record that the legitimacy of the win is, adding, "The inclusion of putting 'ringer' Manny Packwood has raised eyebrows as he had never been seen in the red and black colors of Madison" adding "The eligibility of Mr.Miller is also in question! As a full time athlete he may be deemed to be a 'professional Golfer' as well as cyclist, which would rule him out of the purely amateur affair" however concluding "Video of Mr.Miller teeing off on the 5th hole would tend to negate this claim, as a professional golfer has never been seen to slice a ball at a 90 degree angle off the tee into the bushes, followed by a similar performance on the 7th where he was almost ejected from the course for profane language (only matched by that of GH) A decision as to whether or not a replay of the match will be ordered should be announced......sometime! Steve Millington is also under investigation for not answering the call to play for his Team!

MADISON: Phil.T, Scott.W, Graeme.M Manny????Packwood. Winners Edge: Linda.D, Duncan.S, Marcelino.F and Greg.H.

Great races for Winners Edge riders Mark.H and Treshun in yesterdays Victoria Park Race. After being in a long two-man break with Brian Drea, Mark was reeled in and was edged out by inches by Garth Thompson in the final sprint. Treshun has stepped up to another level by racing in the 'B' category race which had a strong field. Part of a three man break he finished 3rd in the sprint, with another Junior Dominique Mayo taking a well deserved win with Racy Wright 2nd. Things are looking good for the future.

Thomas.G flying the Winners Edge flag in the South of France, doen't get much better than this:)

It may not have been pretty but it was a lot of fun and a close game, playing Captains choice. Winners Edge versus Madison, with Madison taking it on the last hole to record 1 under par round with Winners Edge at Par at the Ocean View course. This is going to be a regular fixture on our training schedule:)

CONGRATULATIONS to Karen.S in the Ironman Switzerland in July. Karen placed 2nd in her category in a time of 10.47.38 and qualified (again) for the big one in Hawaii. Jules, nursing a back injury having already committed to race, planned to do the swim and bike but then ran half the marathon. So for her mission accomplished to as she had already qualified for Hawaii with her great performance in St.Croix earlier this year. AWESOME!

Mark.H continues to dominate the local Time Trial events winning the 10 mile TT on July 19 and the 15 mile on August 9.

TEAM WINNERS EDGE riders Izzy and Treshun competing in the recently concluded Caribean Championships held in Bermuda. Both riders represented themselves and their country extremely well as did Winners Edge rider Philip.W (no ics available) and we are all very proud of them and the other Bermuda riders.

This year Winners Edge has been very impressed with the hard work and dedicated effort of a number of the islands junior riders under the guidance of people like Peter Dunne and Graeme Miller, especially in preparation for the upcoming Caribbean Championships scheduled to take place in Bermuda on July 25/26. As such we are very pleased to welcome Tre'Shun Correia to Team Winners Edge, where we will try to help him reach his goals now and in the future.

............................................................................................................

TEAM WINNERS EDGE is extremely grateful to Island Stats for the great job they do in covering not only cycling but all sports in Bermuda and especially for their photographs, some of which appear on our 'News' section. Please visit their web-site www.islandstats.com...........Thanks

23/6/09 It has been a while since we have updated the site, but there has been a great deal of action on racing scene with Winners Edge riders very active and successful. Dave continued to win Cat 'B' races and then elected top move up to Cat 'A' where he quickly established himself as a contender. Heritage Day Wayne pulled off a second place behind Graeme Miller (Madison), a great result on the day. Winners Edge riders rode well on the Queens Birthday stage race and after three events Mark.H, Shakee and Marce finished 1st,2nd,3rd in the overall. Finally Kento almost pulled off a win the first ever 'rolling road closer' event staged on the island but was outsprinted by his breakaway companion Rodney Davies(Tokio) Our junior riders, Gabby, Izabella, Mark.G and Justin continue to put in some great races. Karen.B, Jules and Karen.S are all working hard towards their Ironman goals later this season. All in all, a great season for team Winners Edge so far.

FLUFFY is doing well in Boulder as you can see from these pics of her competing

in Collegiate races in her College gear (Winners Edge helmet:) Watch out when she comes back in the summer:)

Some great photos again from ISLAND STATS at the weekend of some of our Team in the Tokio Milennium Triathlon 3/5/09. Sorry no pics available of Karen.B and top Portagee runner Paul.M (They were running too fast:)

AWESOME Jules and Kento both put in impressive results at the weekend in St.Croix in what is regarded as the toughest 1/2 Ironman event around. Jules won her age group and qualified for Hawaii, Kento placed 4th getting a spot at the 70.3 Worlds in Clearwater. Great job guys!!!

********************************************************

Scenes from Victoria Park Cit. 26/4/09 Well done all Team riders!

PICS FROM HARRINGTON SOUND TT 12/4/09 - Kento takes the overall, Mark.H 2nd and Shakee 3rd. Strong performances from all our riders. See www.islandstats.com for full results.

KAREN.B ON THE MEND

Karen is on the mend and hopefully back in the mix very soon after her recent bad crash on the bike. We all understand how tough it is to be out of action! Hopefully her shoulder injury will not hold her back too long, and we will see her smiling face back in the pack.

Karen.B on the mend.

Pictured are some our Team members who took full advantage of the 12 weeks of Team Winners Edge training at our co-sponsors gym, the Athletic Club. Wow! It really must have paid off judging by the photo on the left:) Thanks Kym.

KAREN and JULES training in Hawaii last week. Oh the lifestyles of the rich and famous:)

FLORA UPDATE:- Studying hard in Colorado, enjoying life and racing her bike. Two weeks ago Fluffy completed a three stage race, Hill Climb, TT and Crit in a Collegiate competition and won all three events and of course the overall. Way to go Fluffy!

FLORA SHINES IN COLORADO

SUNDAY March 29 saw the first TT of the season at Shelley Bay. Shakee took the honors overall in 24.42 a new PB by a minute just 3 seconds ahead of Mark.H. Karen.B won the womens Vet category, other Winners Edge riders who excelled were Mark.G who set a new record in the 13/14, Justin (who flew past me) a new record in the 11/12, and also setting a new record in the 13/14 was Gabby. Well done to all our riders.

SHAKEE WINS TT.

Despite the weather conditions on Front Street, Team Winners Edge was well represented in all cagetories. Dave, riding in probably the worst conditions of the day, rode off the front of the 'B' race field and soloed in impressive fashion all the way to the finish. Other category winners were Karen.B in the womens 'A', Mark.G in the Junior 'A'. However all our riders represented the Team and themselves well. For full results see www.bermudabicycle.org

SCENES FROM FRONT STREET-2009

Strong performances from Dave who ended up 5th in the overall series and Mark.G. Izabella won her catgeory to add to the victory Gabby had for the Arnolds on the Sayle Hill event. Great rides by all Winners Edge riders.

It was double duty for Mark.H at the Winners Edge National Championships on Sunday (22/2/09) He accepts his award for second place overall in the Category A race and then was the sponsors representative presenting awards to all other category winners. Congratulations also to Dave (6th) and to Mark.G for winning his category.

(below) I would like to say Mark is standing in a hole but.....

WINNERS EDGE NATIONAL MOUNTAIN BIKE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 takes place this weekend February 22nd.

It has been a while since the last update but the 'up-dater' (Me) has been MIA for a while. Apart from our MTB riders who are getting some good results in the MTB series it is pretty quiet as everyone (except Me) builds up for the upcoming season. However as you can see in the two photos below, Mark.G, Mark.H and Philip have been putting in some good 'recovery miles as they escorted the International Marathon runners in January.

Stevo destroys the field in his first MTB event :)

UPDATE....Wayne is recovering well after surgery on his shoulder and is hoping to get on a trainer soon.

"Hey...I told Wayne if he didn't watch it

I was going to slap him....but would he listen?"

Oh so happy to win his first race:)

  • WELL DONE! In Sundays MTB Race at Fort Scaur (30/11) our riders did extremely well. Dave took honors in the Male Cat B, Mark.G was first in the Male 13-16 and Mark.H rode strongly for a 3rd in the Male Cat A. Paulo is nursing an injured shoulder after last weeks crash and Steve still hasn't taken his training wheels off but threatens an appearance sometime this season.

TEAM WINNERS EDGE welcomes new sponsor

ESC Limited

  • Congratulations to all our riders who participated in the Escape to Bermuda Triathlon (2nd November) Photos shown are by Ed Williams and are available for sale.
  • Great result for Bermuda as Tyler won the bronze medal in the road race at the recent Caribbean Cycling Championships in St.Vincent. This is a high quality race with the best riders in the region. Other Bermuda riders were Dee McMullen who won Gold in the TT and silver in the RR. and Garth Thompson who secured his second bronze in two years in the TT. Geri Mewett as always had a strong ride in the RR. Well done Bermuda!

  • Okay guess what Tyler and Nikki are getting ready for on November 8, and it's not a triathlon or bike race. Congratulations guys.
  • You might be wondering why I have added a photo of my daughter Morgan at a recent swim meet. Well one reason is that I am very proud of her swimming achievements, and the other is that I am the only one that knows how to update the web-site so....I can:) Hope you don't mind.
  • Karen Smith raced to her 7th Bank of Bermuda Triathlon victory on Sunday (5/10) a record for the event. Julia came in second to record a 1,2 for Team Winners Edge as they both continue their preparation for the 70.3 World Championships next month in Florida. Justin continued his great year with a win in the junior Duathlon event one day after winning the first cross country event of the year with Mark putting in another strong performance. Wayne Scott defied all reason by riding a great cycle leg of the Team event on little training taking his team to second place overall, and Marce jumped in at the 11th hour to ride for his team putting in a solid performance. Well done to all our Winners Edge Team members who competed at the weekend.

  • Glenn Franklin completed the Winners Edge line up for the next year when he joined the Team this week. He may be no spring chicken (nor am I) but he is one of the most dedicated and consistent riders on the island and represents the sport well as he will the Winners Edge.
  • HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY 'FLUFFY' Okay now I (Greg) feel 'really' old. Flora turned 21 on 30 September. For those of us that remember her running around diapers not tri-suits it's hard to accept. Congratulations FLORA.
  • Congratulations to all the Winners Edge riders that rode in the Grand Prix. Justin once again showed that he is the man (boy) to beat when he took overall honors in the 12 and under. Shakee had a great debut in Team colors (see photo left) winning the first two stages and doing just enough (1 second!) in the final TT.
  • SHAKEE!!!! Glasford has joined Team Winners Edge. Everyone knows that Shakee is a dedicated rider, with a strong work ethic as well as being an all-round nice guy. He is a very welcome addition to the Team.
  • Julia Hawley put in a strong performance on September 7th in the Monaco half Ironman race. She recorded a time of 5.43.44 for 6th in her category, interestingly enough a time that would have won it last year. Well done Jules
  • 'FLUFFY DUFFY' Flora knew it was going to be tough at the Olympics, and it was. Her DNF does not give justice to the fact that she 'QUALIFIED' in her own right to be at the Games. Congratulations Flora.
  • Well Done Philip and Thomas on their rides in the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships in Curacao, the two Winners Edge riders represented Bermuda well as did the whole Bermuda squad.
  • Justin 'Bambustin' Ferreira Its getting difficult to list all of Justins accomplishments:) He keeps setting new TT records, winning road races as well as overseas competitions. • Karen Smith and Julia Hawley traveled to St.Croix to race the ½ Ironman May 7, 2008: Karen Smith and Julia Hawley tamed the 'beast' on Sunday morning as the two top local triathletes recorded impressive performances in one of the triathlons toughest challenges, staged in St.Croix, in the US Virgin Islands. Racing over the Half Ironman distance of 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run, and facing choppy water, rain soaked roads and a demanding run course in hot humid conditions, they tackled the event which is part of the 70.3 mile race series which culminates in the 'Ironman 70.3 World Championships scheduled to take place in Clearwater Florida in November. Smith recorded a 35 minute 2 second swim time, an impressive 2 hr 59 minute 51second bike ride, and a 1.48.42 run for an overall finish time of 5.23.35, which placed her fourth in her category and 18th overall with the 13 women in the Elite field ahead of her. Her time would have won her category in 2007.
